The 2026 edition of the Peterborough Challenge Tournament and Festival is in the books, but not before a tremendous number of games were played, families cheered from the sidelines and new friendships were made in the true spirit of sportsmanship. The featured photograph (credit: Leanne McLaughlin) shows the two teams that competed in the final of the U14 Boys Truman Division at Milroy Park mingling after the game. For the record, Ingersoll Flyers (in the red shirts) defeated Peterborough City (blue shirts) by a score of 4 – 0 to claim bragging rights until next year.
All told, a total of 157 teams played 298 games over the two weekends of the Girls and Boys events. Congratulations to all participating players, team officials and their families for a wonderful display of skill, determination and sportsmanship. A big shout out to everyone who contributed in any way to making this event a success, especially the members of the Peterborough City Soccer Club and the Peterborough Referees Branch, who have put a lot of time and energy into making this tournament a perennial favourite for so many teams.
