U7-U8 Grassroots Program

Our Mission

The PCSA U7-U8 Program is designed for young players aspiring to become smart athletes AND skilled soccer players. We provide an environment where we teach the “fundamentals” of soccer through a unique weaving of ball skills with the A-B-Cs (Agility, Balance and Coordination). It is our mission to nurture and create well rounded “Soccer Athletes” in an environment of fun and play.

The program has been restructured for 2024 to avail of opportunities afforded by the expanded ECOSA District League. The first stage of the program provides indoor training weekly at St. Peter’s Secondary School starting in late March or early April. When the program moves outdoors in May there will be one technical training session and one game night per week. On game nights our U7 and U8 teams will play against other nearby clubs, alternating home and away. They will also attend 4 half-day District Festivals, likely in Peterborough, Cavan, Cobourg and Lindsay. Festivals are mini-tournaments where we get to play several short games against other clubs at one venue. Festivals are usually scheduled on Saturday mornings, every other week, starting the end of May. The program continues throughout the summer until about mid-August.

Space in the boy’s divisions is currently maxed out for 2024 and no further registrations can be accepted. Registration for the girls remains open until February 28. See details in the next section.

Registration

Registration in the U7/U8 program for 2024 is now closed for the boys and remains open for girls born in 2016 & 2017. You should contact the PCSA Registrar for registration information. Send a non-refundable deposit of $25 by e-transfer to to reserve your spot (a challenge question is NOT required; please ensure name of player, date of birth and program name including the option chosen, are indicated in the message area). The balance of the registration fee is due on March 10.

U6 and Younger Players

The ECOSA District League does not extend to U6 and younger players (b. 2018 and later). Aspiring young soccer players are encouraged to join the local recreational league at our sister club, the Peterborough Youth Soccer Club, which runs U4/5/6 divisions in their recreational house league program. While PCSA does not have a formal program for this age group, our club will be offering additional training throughout the summer on Saturday mornings at Eastgate park in cooperation with the PYSC. You will have the option of registering for this enhanced training through your registration with the PYSC at no extra cost. This cooperative arrangement gives players the opportunity to train under the experienced certified coaches at PCSA while also providing a league for the U6’s to play. This, we hope, will help us identify and support players who may be interested to play in a more challenging environment in future years. We would direct you to the Peterborough Youth Soccer Club website for registration.
