U7-U8 Grassroots Program

Our Mission

The PCSC U7-U8 Program is designed for young players aspiring to become smart athletes AND skilled soccer players. We provide an environment where we teach the “fundamentals” of soccer through a unique weaving of ball skills with the A-B-Cs (Agility, Balance and Coordination). It is our mission to nurture and create well rounded “Soccer Athletes” in an environment of fun and play.

The program runs from late March or early April until mid-August. The first stage of the program provides indoor training weekly. When the program moves outdoors in May there will be one technical training session and one game night per week. On game nights our U7 and U8 girl’s and boy’s teams will play in the ECOSA District League against other nearby clubs, alternating home and away. They will also attend 4 half-day District Festivals, likely in Peterborough, Cavan, Cobourg and Lindsay. Festivals are mini-tournaments where they get to play several short games against other clubs at one venue. Festivals are usually scheduled on Saturday mornings, every other week, starting the end of May. The program continues throughout the summer until about mid-August.

Registration

Orientation days for 2026 will take place on 20 – 21 September, 2025. Orientation is free, non-competitive and fun. Pre-registration is required; please visit the Orientation page and submit a pre-registration form prior to attending.

Registration in the program will be available following Orientation days on a first come, first served basis. Due to its immense popularity, we expect that space in the program will fill up quickly.

Spring Training (March – May, 2026)

The program gets underway in the spring with indoor training weekly starting in late March or early April. Session locations, days and times will be announced when details are available.

The program will continue outdoors when the grass fields are open.

Summer Season (May – August, 2026)

The program continues twice weekly with one technical training session at Eastgate Park and one game night per week (home or away). Session days and times will be announced when details are available.

Players will also attend an additional 4 District Festivals, likely in Peterborough, Cavan, Cobourg and Lindsay.  Festivals are mini-tournaments where we get to play several short games against teams from other clubs at a single venue.  Festivals are usually scheduled on Saturday mornings, every other week, starting the end of May.

U6 and Younger Players

The ECOSA District League does not extend to U6 and younger players (b. 2019 and later). Aspiring young soccer players are encouraged to join the local recreational league at our sister club, the Peterborough Youth Soccer Club (PYSC), which runs U4/5/6 divisions in their recreational house league program. While PCSC does not have a formal program for this age group, our club will be offering additional training throughout the summer on Saturday mornings at Eastgate park in cooperation with the PYSC. You will have the option of registering for this enhanced training through your registration with the PYSC at no extra cost. This cooperative arrangement gives players the opportunity to train under the experienced certified coaches at PCSC while also providing a league for the U6’s to play. This, we hope, will help us identify and support players who may be interested to play in a more challenging environment in future years. We would direct you to the Peterborough Youth Soccer Club website for registration.
