A Special Visitor

The Marvin Buchan Soccer Centre (a.k.a. the PCSC Clubhouse) recently had the honour of hosting a very special visitor — the man himself, Coach Marv Buchan!

Marv is a founding member of the Peterborough City Soccer Club (1980) and served as Coach of the Men’s team throughout the first two years. Over the club’s 45-year history, he has shaped our community through his work as a coach, board member, advocate for youth teams, life member, and countless other roles. His incredible contributions to soccer in Peterborough led to his induction into the Peterborough Sports Hall of Fame in 1982. Our new clubhouse was named in his honour in 2003 by the City of Peterborough to further recognize his outstanding commitment to the local soccer community.

At a spritely 93 years young, Coach Marv filled the Centre with memories, stories, and plenty of humour. He was given a hero’s welcome and a nostalgic tour by club members Leanne and Fevri. A heartfelt thank you to his daughter, Kristie, for making this meaningful visit possible.

“Coach”, we wish you all the best in the future. As you would like to say to others, “you’re one of the good ones, and there’s damn few of us left.”
