The Peterborough City Soccer Association provides player development and playing opportunities at the representative level for youth and adult soccer players in the greater Peterborough area. Happening Now ….

Winter training for all U9 to U18 teams at the Spiplex has been extended by two additional weekends until April 14. See – winter training schedule.

PCSA Academy players kicked off the winter semester on January 7. The programs runs until April 4 – see Academy schedule.

The U8 Develoment Program starts up in April while the U6/U7 Program starts in May.

Open Registration for U6/7 & U8 Programs

The PCSA U6/7 and U8 Development Programs are designed to teach a broad range of basic soccer skills to players at the FUNdamental stage of Long Term Player Development.

The U8 Development Program, which is open to girls and boys who were born in 2011, begins with indoor training at the Spiplex Sports Dome in April. The program moves outdoors from May to July with twice weekly development sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays comprising fun activities and small-sided games. Players will also participate in six district festivals in Peterborough and nearby soccer communities.

The U6/7 Development Program for girls and boys who were born in 2012-2013 starts in May.

There are no tryouts or prerequisites since everyone at this age can benefit from these programs. You can register instantly on PowerUp or contact coach Leanne if you would like more information.

Assistant Coach Wanted – U12 Boys

The U12 Boys division would welcome an enthusiastic and committed person to assist the head coach during training and games. Some previous coaching and playing experience would be an asset but is not a prerequisite. Assistant coaches must complete the coaching courses and background checks before assuming the position, however the club will reimburse the cost of these courses. If you are interested in becoming an assistant coach in the U12 Boys division, please contact the division head coach or the Director of Coaching.

Coaching Certification – MED

Cavan FC is hosting two Make Ethical Decisions (MED) courses on April 13 and April 20 in Millbrook. MED certification is mandatory for coaches and assistant coaches. Go to the Coaching Certification page for more information.

Players Wanted – U19+ Men and Senior Women

The PCSA Men’s MJ team is looking for a few more players, U19 and up, to round out its 2019 roster. The team will play in the Ontario Soccer League MJ East Division starting in May. Players may have an opportunity to play up on the Peterborough City U21 or Senior Men’s Regional teams. Interested players should contact Coach Biren by email.

The Senior Women’s team is also seeking players who are interested in playing this summer in the Ontario Women’s Soccer League. The season runs from the middle of May until the end of August. If you would like to take your game to the next level and make some new friends who share your passion for sport please sent a quick email to Coach John.

Becoming a Referee

If you are 12 years of age or older on 31 March 2019, you might want to consider becoming a referee. It could be the right call and get you involved in a pastime that you can enjoy for a lifetime. The Peterborough Youth Soccer Club is hosting several certification courses for new referees over the next few months. You can find out how to get involved by visiting our Referees page.

PCSA Summer Camp at Eastgate

The Peterborough City Soccer Camp is a joint venture of the City of Peterborough Recreation Division and the Peterborough City Soccer Club. It offers four weeks of fun and skills training with certified coaches at Eastgate Park between July 2 and July 26. The camp caters to all skill levels, from novice to rep players, from 5 to 16 years of age. In addition to half-day micro-camps and full day development camps, there are specialized programs exclusively for “girls only”, for rep players and for goalkeepers. PYSC (House League) Registration

The Peterborough Youth Soccer Club (PYSC) offers outdoor recreational soccer (house league) for boys and girls from U4 (b. 2015) to U18 (b. 2001). You can register by mail or by email. Early bird rates apply until March 31. Players are guaranteed team placement if registered by March 31. Please visit the PYSC website for more information.

Fun Fact

Canada (#5) will face Cameroon (#46), New Zealand (#19) and Netherlands (#7) in the group stage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019 which will take place in France from 7 June to 7 July 2019. Canada were defeated by the USA (#1) in the Concacaf Women’s Championship Final on October 17, however both teams, along with third place finisher Jamaica, will advance to the World Cup Finals in France. Canada is currently ranked 5th in the world behind USA, Germany, France and England.

Canada finished fourth at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Uruguay in November 2018 after falling 1-2 to New Zealand in the Match for Third Place. Canada’s finish equals the best ever for any Canadian National Team in a FIFA competition.
