The Peterborough City Soccer Association provides player development and playing opportunities at the representative level for youth and adult soccer players in the greater Peterborough area. After Tryouts/Orientation – the next step

The scheduled tryouts/orientation days for selection of Peterborough City Development (U6-U12) and Competitive (U13 – U18) teams for 2020 are now over (September 21 – 29). Coaches are busy finalizing their team selections. If you attended tryouts/orientation you will be contacted by the team coach during the next two weeks. If you need additional information about the selection process you should contact the Director of Coaching, Scott Cockburn.

PCSA Soccer Academy Set for October Start

A fresh new year for the Peterborough City Soccer Academy is set to start right after Thanksgiving. This is a 6-month program for players who are passionate about soccer and want to reach their full potential. The Academy runs from October until the first week of April. Eligible players for the 2019-2020 Academy year are the 2020 U11 to U18 age groups, that is players born between 2002 and 2009.

Gergin Naoumov is returning as Academy Head Coach as the program enters its seventh year. Coach Gergin has extensive high level playing and coaching experience and holds an Ontario Soccer Provincial C coaching licence as well as a U.S. Soccer Federation C licence.

The deadline to register with the Academy was October 5. All programs are now full. Thank you to everyone who registered and have a great season.

U15 Boys Blue are Thornhill Champions

Peterborough City U15 Boys Blue were undefeated at the Thornhill Challenge Cup tournament held on the weekend of August 17/18. They defeated Bolton Wanderers by a 1 – 0 score in the championship game. They went 2-1-0 (W-T-L) in the preliminary round to advance to the semifinal where they defeated Aurora Stingers by a 2 – 1 score to reach the final.

U14 Girls Blue Take Gold in Trenton

Peterborough City was well represented at the Cameron Memorial Festival and Tournament hosted by the Quinte West Soccer Club in Trenton on the weekend of August 10/11. Our U9, U10, U11 and U12 Girls participated in the festival while PCSA U14 Girls (both teams) and U16 Girls White competed in the tournament section. Peterborough City U14 Girls Blue defeated Oshawa Turul by a score of 2 – 1 in the Final for a first place finish. The team also won their division in the Peterborough Challenge Cup in June.

U12 Girls Blue Shine in Rochester, NY

The Peterborough City U12 Girls Blue Team represented Peterborough with pride while displaying great skill and spirit at the 29th Annual Cobras FC Summer Classic in Rochester, NY on the weekend of July 12-14. The tournament featured over 200 teams from the U.S. and Canada. Results can be viewed on the Cobras FC Summer Classic website and you can read about it in the Peterborough Examiner Online.

U10 Boys Charity Car Wash a Big Splash

The PCSA U10 Boys team wish to thank everyone who came out in support of their charity car wash on Saturday, July 20. They raised over $1000 in just four hours, with all proceeds going to the PCSA Bears for Kids project. Bears for Kids is a community outreach program operated by PCSA to bring comfort to young patients at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre pediatrics unit.

U16 Girls Win Gold in Kingston

Peterborough City U16 Girls Blue rebounded from an earlier loss to Lakeshore Lightning and defeated the Montreal based team by a score of 3 – 1 in the final to capture gold (Tier 1) at the Gaels Cup (formerly known as the Ambassador Cup) in Kingston on Sunday (July 7). They needed penalty kicks to overcome a stubborn Innisfil Stampeders team in a scoreless semi-final. They finished top of their group in round-robin play with a 1-1-1 record, their only defeat being a 1 – 0 loss to Lakeshore.

The U13 Girls team reached the semifinal of their division (Tier 1) before losing 3 – 0 to the Delta Tornades of Montreal. The U18 Girls posted a record of 0-2-1 and did not advance to the playoff round.

U16 Girls Blue Win Gaels Cup in Kingston

Fun Fact

Canada crashed out of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019 in the round of 16 following a 1 – 0 loss to Sweden on June 24 in Paris. Canada had several scoring opportunities, including a penalty kick late in the game, but failed to convert. Sweden went on to finish the tournament in third place.
Canada slipped two places to 7th in world ranking, their lowest position since winning the bronze medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
