The Peterborough City Soccer Association provides player development and playing opportunities at the representative level for youth and adult soccer players in the greater Peterborough area. Happening Now ….
Winter training for all U9 to U18 teams will continue every weekend (except holidays) until March 31 at the Spiplex. See – winter training schedule.
PCSA Academy players kicked off the winter semester on January 7. The programs runs until April 4 – see Academy schedule.
The U8 Develoment Program starts up in April while the U6/U7 Program starts in May.
Open Registration for U6/7 & U8 Programs
The PCSA U6/7 and U8 Development Programs are designed to teach a broad range of basic soccer skills to players at the FUNdamental stage of Long Term Player Development.
The U8 Development Program, which is open to girls and boys who were born in 2011, begins with indoor training at the Spiplex Sports Dome in April. The program moves outdoors from May to July with twice weekly development sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays comprising fun activities and small-sided games. Players will also participate in six district festivals in Peterborough and nearby soccer communities.
The U6/7 Development Program for girls and boys who were born in 2012-2013 starts in May.
Players Wanted – U19+ Men
The PCSA Men’s MJ team is looking for a few more players, U19 and up, to round out its 2019 roster. The team will play in the Ontario Soccer League MJ East Division starting in May. Players may have an opportunity to play up on the Peterborough City U21 or Senior Men’s Regional teams. Coaching Certification – Soccer For Life
PCSA is hosting a 2-day Soccer For Life course (for U13+ team coaches) on February 23/24.
All coaches and assistant coaches must have the certification appropriate for the age of the team they are coaching. This course is filling up quickly. If you don’t register soon you may have to go out of town to get certified. Go to the Coaching Certification page for more information.
Becoming a Referee
If you are 12 years of age or older on 31 March 2019, you might want to consider becoming a referee. It could be the right call and get you involved in a pastime that you can enjoy for a lifetime. The Peterborough Youth Soccer Club is hosting several certification courses for new referees over the next few months. You can find out how to get involved by visiting our Referees page.
PCSA Summer Camp at Eastgate
The Peterborough City Soccer Camp is a joint venture of the City of Peterborough Recreation Division and the Peterborough City Soccer Club. It offers four weeks of fun and skills training with certified coaches at Eastgate Park between July 2 and July 26. The camp caters to all skill levels, from novice to rep players, from 5 to 16 years of age. In addition to half-day micro-camps and full day development camps, there are specialized programs exclusively for “girls only”, for rep players and for goalkeepers. PYSC (House League) Registration
The Peterborough Youth Soccer Club (PYSC) offers outdoor recreational soccer (house league) for boys and girls from U4 (b. 2015) to U18 (b. 2001). You can register by mail or by email. You can also register in-person at Lansdowne Place Mall on March 2 and March 9 from 9:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Please visit the PYSC website for more information.
Volunteer of the Year – Geoff Heale
The PCSA Board announced the late Geoff Heale as the recipient of the Volunteer of the Year award for 2018. Geoff held many positions on the Board over the years as well as making a tremendous contribution to the club in numerous other ways, putting in countless hours, always available and willing to help, instrumental in running the facility and the canteen. Geoff died in April, 2018. He will be sorely missed. The announcement was made during the Annual General Meeting on Saturday (December 1).
Canada (#5) will face Cameroon (#46), New Zealand (#19) and Netherlands (#7) in the group stage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019 which will take place in France from 7 June to 7 July 2019. Canada were defeated by the USA (#1) in the Concacaf Women’s Championship Final on October 17, however both teams, along with third place finisher Jamaica, will advance to the World Cup Finals in France. Canada is currently ranked 5th in the world behind USA, Germany, France and England.
Canada finished fourth at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Uruguay in November 2018 after falling 1-2 to New Zealand in the Match for Third Place. Canada’s finish equals the best ever for any Canadian National Team in a FIFA competition.
