Return of Games – 19 July

Following four weeks of team training in small groups, the stage is set finally for the real games to begin. As a result of diligent work and collaboration between PCSA, our neighbouring rep clubs, the District Association (ECOSA) and the City of Peterborough, we are please to announce inter-club play for players U10 and older will begin next week, starting July 19. The U6/U7 and U8/U9 programs will continue as before on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Inter-club games will involve teams from Peterborough, Cavan, Cobourg/Port Hope and Lindsay on a Home and Away basis. Team coaches will provide the schedules and any other relevant information to the players as soon as it becomes available. A weekly schedule of home games is displayed at the right side of the screen, or at the bottom of the page on some mobile devices. Team practices will continue once or twice each week on an adjusted schedule to give field priority to scheduled inter-club games.

The club, the team officials and the players are excited beyond words to see games commence after a 16-month absence.

PCSA Receives $15,000 Jumpstart Grant

When the pandemic and state of emergency was declared in March 2020, PCSA paused all soccer programs for its 200+ families and 350+ players. This has placed a financial strain on PCSA players, families, and operations. There will be additional costs associated with starting up again due to enhanced health and safety regulations. Now PCSA has been approved for a $15,000 grant from Jumpstart’s Sport Relief Fund which is sponsored by Canadian Tire Corporation. The scheme is designed to help sport and recreation organizations build back sport and play in Canada.

“With Jumpstart’s support, PCSA will be able to purchase the personal protective equipment needed for a safe re-start anticipated this summer”, said PCSA President Dan Moore. “It will also be used to purchase a practice t-shirt for every player, further easing the registration burden on players and families. Operationally, Jumpstart will support staff honorariums over the summer, staff who have been volunteering since June 2020”.
