Open House – January 2, 2017
On Monday, January 2, the PCSA Academy is hosting an Open House for prospective players (U10 – U15) at the Hastings Field House. Our mission statement is to identify exceptional players and provide them with the high-level training and support needed to play at a high level. While we are a branch of the Peterborough City Soccer Club, we have several players from other clubs in the district.
This open house will be an opportunity to meet, interact, and play with current players. Some of our current Academy technical team, led by the Head Coach Vic Rocha, will be there to lead the training sessions and answer any questions you may have.
Girls are invited to participate from 1:30-3:00 pm. The boys session is from 3:00-4:30 pm.
We hope you’ll join us on January 2 at the Hastings Field House (97 Elgin Street, Hastings).
Currently, we are capping our fall session with another international tournament in Buffalo this coming week for our U14 Girls and Boys teams. Our next session begins on January 8th (Senior Girls) and 9th (everyone else) and we will be happy to enrol new players that meet our coaches’ assessment standards.

Sahlen Super Series Tournament
March 2015 – Seventeen Academy senior girls along with coaches Vic and Danny (and parents too) journeyed to Elma, NY on Saturday (March 7, 2015) to play in the Sahlen Super Series tournament. The girls played 3 games on a full-sized indoor field at Sahlen’s Sports Park against three elite teams, North London (OYSL), Lockport Lightning (NY) and Norwest (NY). This was the very first sanctioned event that Peterborough City Academy has attended. The objective, according to Coach Vic, was to gauge where our girls rate against good teams and to see what our weaknesses and strengths are, so we can work on improving their confidence on and off the ball. Overall it was a very satisfying experience, with the team sufficiently mastering a new system of play to earn a win in their final game.

Working with PowerUp
15 August 2014 – Online payment by Visa and MasterCard is available when you register for the Academy. The process is a little different if you are paying by cheque. Although you can put the product in your shopping basket, you cannot go through the checkout until payment is made. You should take the registration process as far as you can and then log off before you go through the checkout. This is sufficient to ensure your place in the program. The club is aware that you have selected the product and enrolled in the program even though you have not completed the checkout step. Simply bring your cheque for the first installment to your next training session.
The new recruits (U11’s) had their information meeting in July. The information meeting for returning members and potential new members took place on August 13.
May 16 & 17 Education Presentation and Elite Training
The Academy has scheduled two exciting events that will be of great interest to our Senior Academy members.
First up on Friday May 16 is a university/college athletics information meeting at the clubhouse (Eastgate) that will provide advice and guidance on preparing for college and university from both the academic and athletic perspectives. Topics will include preparing for college/university, varsity athletics programs, creating an athletic profile, SAT’s, scholarships and bursaries. The presenters will be Stevie Gill, Women’s Soccer Head Coach, Grand Canyon University and Chris Rocha, Director, Financial Aid & Student Awards at Durham College.
The presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m. Due to seating restrictions, attendance at this event is limited to Senior Academy players (U14 to U18 Boys and Girls) and parents only.
On Saturday morning, May 17, Coach Stevie, will conduct two training sessions with the Senior Girls and Boys at Eastgate. Stevie previously played and coached at a high level in the Durham Region, hence his connection with this area. He also played for Canada’s National Teams at the U-20 and U-23 levels and has Canadian National “B” coaching certification. Needless to say, this promises to be an exciting and unique training experience for our players.
9:00 – 10:00 a.m. : Senior Girls
10:00 – 11:00 a.m. : Senior Boys
The Saturday morning sessions are open to the public for viewing and everyone is welcome to come and observe.

Due to the limited space there will be two sessions – starting at 9:00 a.m. for parents of the junior players and at 10:30 a.m. for the parents of senior players. The purpose is to give you an interim progress report and a look ahead to where the academy is heading. We also want to hear your feedback, comments and suggestions.
